Supported by China Chemical Fiber Association and China National Chemical Fiber Corp., and organized by CCFEI and PCI Acrylonitrile Ltd, the 8th China International Acrylonitrile & Acrylic Fiber Forum was held during 9-11 Mar 2011, in Minya Hotel, Shanghai.

 

The conference was attended by more than 150 participants, including producers, traders and consumers from home and abroad. Experts and senior officials from Asahi Kasei, FISIPE, PCI Acrylonitrile Ltd, Thai Acrylic Fibre, Jilin Petrochemical, Daqing Petrochemical, Ningbo LG Yongxing, China Fine Chemicals Association, Cixi Artificial Fur Association, CCFA and CCFEI, gave speeches on high-light industry focuses including China’s 12^th Five-Year plan, acrylonitrile demand and supply and perspective in 2011, artificial fur development in Cixi, dyed acrylic fiber, R&D, as well as influences from crude oil, polyacrylamide and ABS.

 

Participants came to the consensus that though acrylonitrile capacity will see fast grow, tight supply would remain a problem in the near term, so acrylonitrile prices will stay at high level, resulting in slow expansion of acrylic fiber capacity. On the other hand, in the future ABS sector is expected to take a larger share than acrylic fiber with regard of acrylonitrile demand. Faced by challenges including energy-saving, higher feedstock and labor costs, RMB appreciation and difficulties in export, enterprises should enhance their force on R&D and structure optimization, and producers should maintain efficient communication with others thus to keep inventory at reasonable level.
